There are currently no 0.5\u2011ton electric trucks available in Korea. Unlike traditional commercial trucks, ours features a compact, attractive design. The company chose the International e\u2011Mobility Expo, which opened March 25 at Jeju Shinhwa World, as the launch point for its challenge to Korea\u2019s electric commercial vehicle market.<\/p>\n Aireon is the electric commercial vehicle unit of Ezytronics, a maker of inverters and EV chargers. Through a joint venture with a Chinese partner, the company co\u2011developed an EV platform and batteries and plans to introduce a 0.5\u2011ton truck, the IR3, and a 1\u2011ton truck, the IR5, to the domestic market by year\u2011end (0.5 t \u2248 1,102 lb; 1 t \u2248 2,205 lb).<\/p>\n The models ditch the typical bonnetless commercial truck profile for a smaller, more appealing look \u2014 a key selling point that made Aireon\u2019s stand one of the busiest at the show. The company plans to supply B2B customers in last\u2011mile logistics first, then expand into the B2C market.<\/p>\n An Aireon spokesperson noted that parent company Ezytronics is a homegrown Korean supplier to major automakers and that the firm applied that engineering expertise to Aireon\u2019s vehicles. The partnership with the Chinese joint venture, the spokesperson added, helped the company secure competitive pricing.<\/p>\n Farm machinery equipped with autonomous\u2011driving sensors also drew large crowds. Korea Three\u2011Axis displayed an unmanned powered weeder that is running pilot projects with support from the Rural Development Administration.<\/p>\n The machine follows a pre\u2011set work area and operates without an onboard operator. Its LiDAR sensors, commonly used in autonomous vehicles, deliver a margin of error of just 10 cm (about 4 inches). The unit also handles loading and unloading tasks.<\/p>\n A Korea Three\u2011Axis representative said the unmanned weeder can be used beyond farms \u2014 in places like soccer fields and golf courses \u2014 performing consistent, accurate work without a person operating it under hot sun.<\/p>\n Companies such as Korea Three\u2011Axis and Aireon have found a favorable platform at the International e\u2011Mobility Expo because of the event\u2019s distinct focus. Where typical auto shows are dominated by major OEMs, this expo draws small and medium enterprises from across the country to share technology while industry and academia gather for forum sessions.<\/p>\n The expo\u2019s academic tilt has also created a competitive environment for promising mobility talent nationwide. Competitions are staged throughout the halls, with this year\u2019s autonomous driving and AI drone contests attracting particular attention.<\/p>\n This year\u2019s forum lineup broadened as well. Past expos focused on EV adoption and regulation; this year\u2019s conversations have shifted toward physical AI and autonomous driving. Of the four days of forums, three are dedicated to those topics.<\/p>\n The program also includes a global UAM business forum on future aerial mobility and a World ESG Forum to discuss next\u2011generation energy management technologies and policies linking EVs and power grids.<\/p>\n While the event has traditionally targeted industry and academia, organizers this year introduced initiatives to attract general visitors. One example is a free EV inspection service for attendees who drive electric cars to the expo. Repair\u2011solution specialist C&Force operates a booth offering basic checks across roughly 10 items.<\/p>\n An organizing committee official said, \u201cThis expo will serve as a global convergence platform covering energy, artificial intelligence, and marine and air mobility, as well as electric vehicles.
