Hanwha Aerospace (012450) said it will sharpen its global competitiveness by concentrating on defense and space businesses.<\/p>\n

Son Jae-il, CEO of Hanwha Aerospace, told shareholders at a regular meeting at the Seongnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry on March 24 that the company will reinforce sustainable growth by securing next-generation technologies and quickly adapting to shifts in the global security environment.<\/p>\n

Son noted that, despite geopolitical uncertainty in 2025, the company posted record results, exceeding 2 trillion KRW (about $1.5 billion) in standalone operating profit. He said Hanwha Aerospace has solidified its standing as a global top-tier firm through expanded defense exports and growth in its aerospace operations.<\/p>\n

On the defense side, the company expanded exports by signing major contracts with India, Poland and Norway. Hanwha plans to strengthen global partnerships by expanding production hubs and pursuing localization in North America, Europe and the Middle East.<\/p>\n

In aerospace, the company bolstered its technological edge through participation in the fourth Nuri rocket launch, development of next-generation launch vehicles, and supplying engines for the KF-21 fighter. Hanwha also plans to deepen cooperation with international firms and enter the unmanned aerial systems market. Its space business will focus on building indigenous capabilities and expanding the broader ecosystem.<\/p>\n

Shareholders approved the financial statements, elected directors, and ratified the proposed cap on director compensation at the meeting.<\/p>\n

Following the vote, Son Jae-il was reappointed as an inside director, and Kim Seung-mo was newly named head of defense strategy. Independent director and audit committee member Jeon Hyu-jae, a professor at Sungkyunkwan University School of Law, was reappointed, and Jeon Woo-hong, a standing auditor at H-Line Shipping, was newly appointed.<\/p>\n
