Volvo is set to launch its 2026 model year electric SUV, the ‘EX90,’ with significant enhancements and improved price competitiveness.<\/p>\n

Electrek, a leading electric vehicle news outlet, reports that the 2026 EX90 boasts major improvements in charging speed and computing performance, along with enhanced safety features. Surprisingly, the base model is priced lower than its 2025 predecessor.<\/p>\n

Volvo has faced several delays in the EX90’s release due to software issues. Despite launching an early 2024 model, some problems persisted. The automaker has committed to addressing these concerns in the 2026 version.<\/p>\n

The 2026 EX90 is a three-row electric SUV featuring an 800-volt electrical architecture. This enables rapid charging, adding approximately 155 miles (about 249 km) of range in just 10 minutes. The vehicle is equipped with dual NVIDIA Drive AGX Orin-based computers, delivering a combined 500 TOPS (trillion operations per second). This computational power drives advanced safety features, including slippery road detection, improved low-light emergency steering, and enhanced emergency stop assistance.<\/p>\n

In a customer-friendly move, Volvo will offer free hardware upgrades to 2025 EX90 buyers. Existing owners can access these upgrades through their local dealerships.<\/p>\n

The most striking change is the pricing strategy. The 2026 EX90 starts at $78,090 (approximately 111.39 billion KRW), a $3,200 (approximately 4.665 billion KRW) reduction from the 2025 model. This competitive pricing is made possible by introducing a new base model with a single-motor rear-wheel drive (RWD) configuration, producing 329 horsepower. The twin-motor and performance variants see power increases to 449 hp and 670 hp, respectively.<\/p>\n

Pricing for the 2026 EX90 twin-motor model begins at $81,390 (approximately 118.7 billion KRW), while the performance model starts at $86,390 (approximately 126 billion KRW). The EX90 enters a competitive segment, facing off against the Rivian R1S, BMW iX, Hyundai Ioniq 9, and the electric Porsche Macan.<\/p>\n

It’s worth noting that the 2026 twin-motor model’s range has slightly decreased to about 305 miles (about 491 km) per charge, due to a reduced battery capacity of 102 kWh.<\/p>\n
