The Seoul chapter of the People Power Party, led by Chairwoman Bae Hyun-jin, has filed a complaint against Mayor Jeong Won-oh for allegedly violating the Public Official Election Act.<\/p>\n

The Seoul branch of the People Power Party claims that Mayor Jeong held approximately six book talk events promoting his own publication since last December. These events reportedly took place across Seoul, including in Seongdong, Yeongdeungpo, and Jongno districts.<\/p>\n

The party argues that, according to the Central Election Commission’s interpretation of the Public Official Election Act, repeatedly hosting book launch events or gatherings that invite numerous general voters for promotional purposes within 90 days of an election constitutes pre-election campaigning.<\/p>\n

They assert that Mayor Jeong’s book talks qualify as pre-election campaigning when considering the timing, frequency, format, and audience of these events.<\/p>\n

The Seoul chapter of the People Power Party has reported Mayor Jeong to both the Seoul Election Commission and the Seoul Metropolitan Police Agency. They are calling for a thorough investigation by the relevant authorities to maintain the integrity of the electoral process.<\/p>\n
