Active Voice Care; preemptive kitchen-fire prevention; automated generation of senior services with optimized energy control; and targeted care for high-risk groups.
Anyang will build a ‘future smart home’ that pairs artificial intelligence (AI) with the Internet of Things (IoT) to protect socially vulnerable residents.
The city said on the 29th that the National IT Industry Promotion Agency (NIPA) selected Anyang as the demonstration and rollout agency for its intelligent home service program. By next year, the city plans to deploy Matter, the global home IoT standard, at 50 locations—including private homes and senior centers—to introduce five proactive intelligent home services.
The city will begin scenario development this year and install standardized devices to bring the services online by next year.
The project’s most notable feature is replacing privacy-invasive CCTV with sensors and voice-recognition technologies.
Anyang will integrate an edge-hybrid AI architecture with Matter to build a system that can detect resident risks in advance.
To date, smart-home devices have frequently been incompatible across manufacturers, which limited usability. Implementing Matter allows the city to expand the system freely without locking it into a single vendor’s ecosystem.
Park Jeong-gil, director of Anyang City’s AI Strategy Bureau, said, “This project will act as a catalyst for creating an inclusive, safe living environment built on Anyang’s advanced smart-city infrastructure. We will validate its effectiveness and work to establish an even more comprehensive safety net.”
