>Defense Minister Ahn Gyu-baek offered his condolences on June 1 after an explosion at the Hanwha Aerospace plant in Daejeon. He said the Defense Ministry would provide full technical support for the investigation into the cause of the accident.
Ahn wrote on social media that he learned of the Hanwha Aerospace explosion while returning home from the Shangri-La Dialogue. He said he prayed for the souls of those who lost their lives in the unexpected accident.
He extended his deepest condolences to the bereaved families and wished a swift recovery to those who were injured.
Ahn added that the Defense Ministry, together with the Defense Acquisition Program Administration (DAPA), will provide all necessary technical support for the investigation and pledged to actively cooperate with defense contractors to establish worker safety measures so that such a tragedy does not recur.
