The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) said on the 29th (local time) it will open an investigation after evidence indicated troops fired on a commercial airliner over the West Bank, mistaking it for a drone. According to the IDF, the incident began the previous night when residents of the Beit El settlement reported seeing several unidentified drones overhead. Following those reports, Israeli forces deployed to search the area, and one unit fired at an object after assessing it to be a drone. Officials said subsequent changes to flight paths into Ben Gurion Airport sent some commercial aircraft eastward, causing planes to pass relatively low over Beit El — a factor that may have triggered the drone sightings. The IDF is also probing whether a police drone that was flying over Beit El at the time prompted residents to report the sightings. Authorities reported no casualties or damage from the incident. #Israel #Palestine #FriendlyFire Yonhap News TV inquiries and tips: KakaoTalk/LINE jebo23.
