[JoyNews24 reporter Jung Ji-won] WOODZ (Cho Seung-yeon)’s self-penned song “Drowning” continues to enjoy sustained success on major domestic streaming charts.
“Drowning” has spent 70 consecutive weeks in the top 10 of Melon’s TOP100 chart, the longest such run in the chart’s history. That surpasses NewJeans’ “Hype Boy” (49 weeks) and BTS’ “Dynamite” (36 weeks). After a resurgence that began in October 2024, the song has remained among the chart’s top ranks, and it topped the 2025 annual chart as well as earning a win on SBS’s Inkigayo.

“Drowning” appears on his fifth mini-album, OO-LI, released in April 2023. WOODZ wrote and composed the track himself; the song channels the intense emotions that follow the loss of a loved one.
WOODZ is a solo artist who has shaped his musical identity through songwriting, composition and production. He moves fluidly across genres—rock, R&B and hip-hop—and is praised as an “all-rounder” for his wide stylistic range and powerful vocals. He has built a robust fan base and broad public recognition.
WOODZ released his first full-length album, Archive. 1, in March and is currently promoting it.
