The single launches the campaign for his 35th-anniversary album, which the team hopes to release in 2027. Widely regarded as the \”King of Rock Ballads,\” Kim is poised to reaffirm his place in the music scene with this comeback.

\”At the Center of Life\” reworks his 2019 song \”Cry Out\” with a fresh arrangement and revised lyrics. The track builds on a deeper emotional core, offering fans messages of comfort and hope about life and the passage of time.

The music video is rendered in stylized animation to give the song’s narrative greater dimensionality. Rather than relying on surface-level visuals, it unfolds like a short, lyrical film marked by traces of time and lived experience, delivering a highly immersive mood.

The concept grew out of Kim’s desire to preserve fans’ stories. Centering on people who have lived through the past 35 years — the sacrifices made to protect family, the moments they refused to abandon their dreams, and the days endured through pain — the video weaves these lives into a single narrative. With Kim’s voice braided into those personal histories, the piece aims to be more than a music video: it seeks to stand as a record of people who passed through an era together.

Preparing the 35th-anniversary album for next year, Kim will begin releasing one track per month starting this month. The collection will pair newly interpreted \”35th-anniversary\” versions of his 1990s hits with contemporary, trend-forward new songs.

The project is intended to introduce younger listeners to the highlights of the 1990s while offering longtime fans fresh memories and renewed emotional resonance.

Production sources say the team invested heavily in polishing the recordings, completing dozens of mixing sessions and multiple mastering passes to raise the production quality. Upcoming tracks will feature contributions from younger singers, including Jungsik-i, the original vocalist of \”I Am a Firefly.\”

Meanwhile, K2 Kim Seong-myeon’s new single \”At the Center of Life\” will be released on various streaming platforms at 6 p.m. on the 15th.
