Certain songs linger in people’s memories long after the years have passed. A melody can summon a family member’s face for one listener and, for another, reopen a scene from youth. KBS1’s long-running Monday-night series Gayo Mudoe returns this week with a lineup of such songs, assembling performers from across generations to share moments of nostalgia and connection with viewers.

The episode’s roster includes Tae Jin‑ah, Kim Su‑chan, Gil Ryeo‑won, Jung Mi‑ae, Hong Won‑bin, Park Sang‑chul, Choi Jae‑myung, Kim So‑yeon, Im Su‑jung, Park Sung‑on, Jo Hang‑jo, Lee Su‑yeon, Yang Ji‑eun, Kang Moon‑kyung and Lee So‑na. The performers will move through a mix of popular songs and trot numbers spanning multiple generations.

Tae Jin‑ah opens the show with one of his enduring hits, \”Companion,\” a familiar melody that sets the evening’s tone. Kim Su‑chan follows with \”Birthday,\” and Gil Ryeo‑won offers an emotional reading of \”I Can’t Live Without You.\” Jung Mi‑ae brings a traditional flavor with \”Go Get Married, Child.\”

Hong Won‑bin continues the program with \”Wedding Dress,\” and Park Sang‑chul delivers a distinctive \”With You.\” Choi Jae‑myung will perform \”Father’s Youth,\” aiming to resonate with middle‑aged and older viewers.

Kim So‑yeon will take the stage with \”My Brother Is a Street Musician,\” and Im Su‑jung will sing \”My One Love.\” Park Sung‑on prepares a generationally resonant take on \”Black Rubber Shoes,\” while Jo Hang‑jo performs his signature song, \”Thank You,\” with deep feeling.

The second half is built around songs about family and life. Lee Su‑yeon will sing \”Father’s River,\” Yang Ji‑eun will perform \”Father and My Weeping Mother,\” and Kang Moon‑kyung will present \”The Years of a Mother’s Love.\”

Lee So‑na delivers \”I Thought It Was Okay for Mom,\” and the show closes with \”I Will Live in the Soil.\” Jo Hang‑jo leads the first verse, and all the performers join for the second verse to conclude the broadcast.

What distinguishes this episode is its focus on family, parents and life partners. Many of the selected songs evoke family and the passage of life just from their titles. Rather than simply replaying old hits, the program aims to share emotions that have deepened over time.

KBS1’s Gayo Mudoe is a long‑running music program centered on traditional Korean songs and trot, a popular Korean genre. Under host Kim Dong‑geon, the show has long appealed to middle‑aged viewers by presenting music that stirs memory and nostalgia. Even as musical trends and eras shift, the program’s calm, faithful delivery of familiar songs and sentiments remains unchanged.
