Tsuki, a member of the K-pop group Billie, took on the challenge of making japchae on the hit show “Discovery of the Table.”
The MBC program, which aired on the afternoon of the 10th, showcased various dishes prepared using traditional Korean sauces.
The episode featured MC Jang Geun-seok, Billie’s Tsuki, author Kwak Jae-sik, and chefs Yoon Nam-no and David Lee. The group embarked on a culinary adventure to explore the irresistible charm of traditional sauces in Gyeongbuk Yeongju.
The cast whipped up an array of dishes using traditional soy sauce, gochujang, and doenjang. Tsuki caught everyone’s attention by announcing her plan to make japchae using soy sauce. She revealed her dedication, saying, “I’ve mentally rehearsed this more than 100 times,” as she dove into preparing the dish.
In a pre-show interview, Tsuki admitted that making japchae while wearing gloves had been a dream of hers, something she’d only seen in K-dramas. As she mixed the japchae seasoning on set, she exclaimed, “My dream is becoming a reality!” After sampling Tsuki’s creation, Jang Geun-seok was visibly impressed by the delicious flavor and showered her with praise.
“Discovery of the Table” is MBC’s latest K-food road documentary. The show follows Jang Geun-seok and a team of top-tier chefs as they journey across Korea, uncovering the hidden flavors, wisdom, and beauty of everyday Korean cuisine.
