The long-awaited BTS world tour will officially kick off in Goyang, Gyeonggi Province, marking the return of all seven members to the same stage.
Goyang Special City announced on January 15 that the Goyang Sports Complex will serve as the opening venue for BTS’s large-scale 2026 world tour. The concert will be the group’s first full-scale global tour since members completed their solo activities, drawing eager attention from fans around the world.
Goyang has steadily established itself as a hub for major K-pop and cultural events. The city previously hosted a string of high-profile BTS-related programs, including the offline segments of the 2025 BTS FESTA, j-hope’s encore concert and Jin’s first fan concert. Those events combined performances, exhibitions and immersive fan experiences across the city, demonstrating Goyang’s ability to manage complex, citywide Hallyu programming.
Large photo zones and welcome installations around Ilsan Lake Park and the Goyang Tourist Information Center attracted international visitors and helped brand the city as a destination fans travel to for live performances.
City officials said Goyang’s accumulated experience and proven operational capacity were decisive factors in its selection as the tour’s starting point. Evaluators pointed to the Goyang Sports Complex’s ability to host large crowds, excellent transportation access, a safety-management system backed by interagency cooperation, and the city’s capacity to coordinate comprehensive events before and after shows.
A Goyang city official said, “We will do everything to make BTS’s concert an unforgettable moment for everyone.” The official added, “By fully leveraging Goyang’s cultural infrastructure, we aim to showcase the city as a global performance hub where BTS’s music and message resonate throughout the community.”
Organizers expect the opening concert to draw tens of thousands of fans from around the world, reinforcing Goyang’s growing standing as a global K-pop destination and setting the tone for BTS’s highly anticipated return to the international stage.
