BTS wrapped the North American leg of its \”Arirang\” world tour, underscoring the group’s global reach. The 15 concerts across five cities in the United States and Mexico drew some 840,000 fans and sold out every show.
On May 30, BigHit Music said BTS attracted roughly 840,000 attendees across concerts in Tampa, El Paso, Stanford, Las Vegas and Mexico City. High demand led organizers to add one extra performance each in Tampa, Stanford and Las Vegas, and those additional dates also sold out.
For the tour, BTS combined songs from their new album Arirang with longtime hits. BigHit Music singled out the \”Body to Body\” stage as a highlight, saying fans joined together to sing the traditional Korean folk song \”Arirang\” in unison—turning the stadium into a single chorus. The company added that the melody, steeped in Korean feeling, echoed through tens of thousands of voices and helped connect people around the world.
Analysts say BTS’s influence now reaches beyond music into broader aspects of Korean culture. ABC7 San Francisco reported that the group’s popularity has spurred increased interest in the Korean language and culture. Daphna Jur, a Stanford University professor of Korean studies, told the station that unlike many other foreign-language programs that are stagnating or shrinking, interest in Korean language, history, culture, literature and sociology has surged.
The box-office figures were striking. Billboard reported that eight shows in April—held in Goyang, Tokyo and Tampa—generated 76.2 million USD (about 114.8 billion KRW) in revenue and sold 417,000 tickets, making BTS the month’s top tour.
Notably, the three Tampa performances set April records for single-venue gross and attendance. Billboard found that the average per-show gross for the Tampa and El Paso dates reached 12.1 million USD (about 18.2 billion KRW), roughly a 64% increase over BTS’s previous U.S. tour.
Meanwhile, BTS will perform for domestic fans at Busan Asiad Main Stadium on June 12–13. June 13 marks the group’s 13th debut anniversary, promising an especially meaningful show for the members and their fandom, ARMY.
After that, BTS will open the European leg in Madrid on June 26 and will begin the second North American leg in August, starting in East Rutherford, New Jersey.
