Netflix’s global concert tour for its hit animated original film K-Pop Demon Hunters is gearing up. The streamer says the concerts will bring elements of the two-time Academy Award–winning film to life in spectacular ways.
On the 14th, Netflix announced the global tour on its media site Tudum. The company did not release a full schedule, list of host cities or ticketing details. Instead, it invited fans to join a waitlist and said it will notify them with updates.
The tour is expected to focus on appearances by Korean-descended artists Lee Jae, Audrey Nuna and Lea Ami, who provided the singing voices for the film’s fictional K-pop girl group HUNTRIX. Netflix has not confirmed whether the three will appear. The company also hasn’t said whether vocalists from the rival boy group, SajaBoys, will take part.
Since the film premiered in June last year, Lee Jae, Audrey Nuna and Lea Ami have performed the theme song “Golden” on stages around the world. “Golden” topped charts including the U.S. Billboard and the U.K. Official Charts, won both an Academy Award and a Golden Globe for Best Original Song this year, and the film took home Best Animated Feature. The trio also performed at the Academy Awards ceremony.
K-Pop Demon Hunters is an animated feature co-directed by Korean American Maggie Kang and Chris Appelhans. The film follows HUNTRIX as they, together with their fandom, battle demons. Arden Cho, May Hong and Yoo Ji-hong provided voices for characters in the movie.
The production team has begun work on a sequel, though no release date has been set.
