[Alpha Economy = Reporter Kim Danha] BTS has been confirmed as a headliner for the halftime show at the final of the 2026 FIFA World Cup in North and Central America. It will be the first time a World Cup final includes a halftime performance, drawing intense global attention.
On the 14th, Global Citizen and FIFA announced that BTS will perform at the final on July 19 at MetLife Stadium in New Jersey. The group will co-headline the event with Madonna and Shakira in a show designed to bring audiences together around the world.
The performance was organized to promote the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, a campaign that supports children in underserved communities. Chris Martin of Coldplay will curate the overall production to increase its impact.
In an official statement, BTS said, “We believe music is a universal language that carries hope and unity. We are honored to share our message with global audiences and to help expand educational opportunities for children.”
BTS is a seven-member group composed of Jin, Suga, J-Hope, RM, Jimin, V and Jungkook. Since debuting in 2013, they have elevated K-pop’s international standing with multiple No. 1 singles on the Billboard Hot 100 and albums atop the Billboard 200. The group has also made an impact beyond music, earning Grammy nominations and speaking at the United Nations General Assembly.
Having completed mandatory military service this year and resumed full-group activities, BTS is expected to reaffirm its global influence with the World Cup final performance.
