[TV Daily reporter Kim Ji-ha] Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Choi Hwi-young sent congratulatory messages to the K-pop artists who won at the 2026 American Music Awards.
The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism said on the 27th that Minister Choi sent messages to winners including BTS, Cats Eye, HUNTRIX, and TWICE. In his message to BTS, Choi wrote, \”With messages that transcend generations and a singular musical vision, you have offered comfort and moved fans around the world. We will broaden the base of popular music and strengthen the industry’s ecosystem so that K-pop’s remarkable achievements can continue.\” The American Music Awards, established in 1974, are among the United States’ leading popular music ceremonies. This year, K-pop acts — including BTS, Cats Eye, HUNTRIX, and TWICE — brought home trophies across 11 categories. BTS took three honors: Artist of the Year, Song of the Summer, and Best Male K-pop Artist. Notably, the Artist of the Year trophy is their first since 2021. Cats Eye also scored three wins, including New Artist of the Year. \”‘Golden,’ the OST from Netflix’s animated series K-pop Demon Hunters, won Best Pop Song and Best Vocal Performance; the series’ soundtrack collection picked up a total of four awards, including Best Soundtrack.\” TWICE won Best Female K-pop Artist, underscoring their global appeal.
