[MyDaily — Reporter Seung-gil Lee] BTS will headline the halftime show at the final of the 2026 FIFA North and Central American World Cup.
On the 14th (local time), Global Citizen and FIFA announced that BTS will co-headline the halftime show at the 2026 FIFA North and Central American World Cup™ final, scheduled for July 19 at the New York New Jersey Stadium in the United States.
This marks the first time a halftime performance will be staged at a FIFA World Cup™ final. FIFA and Global Citizen conceived the event to bring the world together by fusing sport, music and culture. BTS will join legendary pop stars Madonna and Shakira as co-headliners, putting them at the center of a moment that will draw global attention.
Through their agency BigHit Music, BTS said, “We are deeply honored to perform on a stage that brings the world together. We believe music is a universal language that delivers hope and unity. Sharing that message with global viewers at this World Cup—and helping expand educational opportunities for children—makes this moment even more meaningful.”
International civic movement Global Citizen will produce the halftime show. The organization leads the world’s largest campaign to end extreme poverty and stages major initiatives and music events addressing climate change, global health and access to education. Organizers expect the performance to raise awareness and funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund, which supports quality education and increased sports access for children in underserved communities worldwide.
The halftime show will be broadcast live around the world, with Coldplay’s Chris Martin serving as curator. Characters from Sesame Street and The Muppets are also set to appear, promising a family-friendly spectacle for viewers of all ages.
