By Jang Ha-joon, SPOTV News — Former Japan striker Yoshinori Muto turned heads after sharing vacation photos with longtime teammate and senior Shinji Kagawa.
Japanese outlet Soccer Digest reported on June 3 (Korea Standard Time) that Muto, who currently plays for Vissel Kobe, posted several pictures to his Instagram on June 2. He captioned the post, “It was the best vacation. Thanks, Kagawa,” offering fans a casual update.
The pair spent time on Awaji Island, taking a low-key day to unwind. Several shots showed them relaxing together along the shoreline.
The seaside photos drew the most attention: both men, in swimwear, waded into shallow water and flashed thumbs-up poses for the camera.
With their shirts off, the two displayed impressive, well-maintained physiques that quickly captured fans’ attention. Kagawa is 37 this year and Muto is 34 — ages that haven’t stopped them from committing to rigorous training and staying in top condition. Other images showed them sharing a meal and drifting in the sea, underscoring a close, longtime friendship.
Social media lit up with praise. Fans commented things like, “What a great photo,” “They both suit the sea,” “Incredible muscles,” “Looks like the perfect vacation,” “Their condition is amazing,” “So jealous,” and “Bodies like sculptures.”
Once fixtures of Japan’s national team, Kagawa and Muto now play in the domestic league and are quietly winding down their careers. They have drifted out of the national setup and will not feature in the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup in North and Central America. Having already achieved so much in their primes, the two appear content to enjoy their downtime and watch the tournament from the sidelines.
